    Newcastle-upon-Tyne, or more commonly knowns as Newcastle, is located on the north of the River Tyne (it's Gateshead on the south side) and plays home to the famous Tyne Bridge, Newcastle United Football Club and is the starting point for the Great North Run, the world's largest half marathon run.

    One of the biggest attractions in the area is The Angel of the North statue. This iconic piece by the sculptor Antony Gormley was completed in 1998 and it attracts over 150,000 visitors a year. It weighs 208 tonnes and is 20 metres (66 ft) tall, with wings measuring 54 metres (177 ft) across, making it a dominant feature in the surrounding landscape. Other points of interest in the area are the Castle, Newcastle, Hancock Museum, and Discovery Museum.
